The Driver Manager is to lead assigned drivers in the proper stewardship of organizational resources including time and equipment. They uphold the standards and processes within our organization, coach and mentor to foster desired behavior, and consider safety, morale, and utilization in all decisions made. A driver manager needs to be a beacon of knowledge and reliability because their drivers depend on it. Hours would be Thursday thru Saturday 6 am thru 6pm and Sunday 8 am thru 8pm.
The Driver Manager’s Core Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
•The daily operation of assigned drivers to include the level of safety compliance, performance coaching, and standard enforcement.
•The daily supervision and oversight of all freight plans placed upon assigned drivers.
•Maintaining the availability of drivers and their vacation schedules.
•Maintaining the balance between driver expectations and company responsibilities.
•Participating in the control of empty and bobtail miles incurred by their drivers.
•Communication to drivers and assigned fleet.
•Working with the safety department to address and correct issues pertaining to safety, logs, and training.
•Participate in the management of daily truck service levels and revenue goals.
As a Driver Manager, you are also expected to champion the following items and remain the primary point of contact for your drivers. Although the below items are ultimately your responsibility; the Driver Relations Department is available for support and guidance on these items if needed.
•The ongoing training, evaluation, and discipline of the assigned drivers.
•Spearheading referral and retention efforts of assigned drivers on your fleet.
•Identifying and addressing driver inefficiencies.
•Recognizing and rewarding desired driver behavior.
